THE LORD’S BRANCH CHRISTIAN CENTRE
THE BRANCH’S WAY-Isaiah 4:2 (A WEEKLY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE)
Text: John 1:1-5 - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [2] The same was in the beginning with God. [3] All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. [4] In him was life; and the life was the light of men. [5] And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
Man fell into darkness when Adam and Eve succumb to the deceit of the devil in Genesis three. The light of God ceased to shine on the heart of man because man was spiritually separated from God (spiritual death). Death brings eternal darkness and the only way for man to trace his roots back to his original position in God is through a spiritual rebirth. The light of Christ begins to shine on us and through us the moment we give our lives to Christ. In the book of John 3: 17 it says "God sent His Son to the world so that through Him the world may be saved". "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3: 16). Jesus came to the world to offer mankind the hope and light of His eternal life. This light of Christ can not be bought or earned, it is a gift of God. Jesus is the perfect gift anyone would ever wanted.
Jesus Christ is the true light that lights every man that comes into the world. He is the creator, the source of the light and life of all things. As all things were made by Him by the divine plan and purpose of God the Father. I pray for you that every inherited darkness in your life shall be overcome by the light of Christ in Jesus name.
Jesus is the light that illuminates the path we should walk to get to the presence of God the Father. As true believers we should allow the light of Christ to guide our lives as it is only by this that we will not stumble in darkness of life. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.(Psalm 23: 4). Zachariias the father of John the Baptist prophesied that God will visit His people to give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace (Luke 1: 79). I prophesy into your life in this season of Christ's birth that God will pay you a divine visitation and every power of darkness that has been troubling you from your cradle shall disappear by force in Jesus name.
Jesus is the prism of light through which we truly see ourselves as we really are - a sinner in need of a Savior. The book of Ephesians 1:7-8 said "In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; [8] Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;"
Jesus said the source for the light that quicken our understanding because His teaching and examples help us to do great.
Jesus is the true and complete revelations of God's light (John 1: 9). The light of Christ removes spiritual darkness and deception on our paths to God. This He does by the opportunity of salvation through faith in Jesus.
Apart from in Christ, there is no other light by which we see the truth and be spiritually saved. Jesus is the only one who provides the way out of life's spiritual darkness (1Peter 2: 9), loss (Luke 19: 10) and slavery to sin (Romans 6: 6), guilt (Hebrews 10: 22) and condemnation (Romans 8: 1).
To have the light of Christ is to be joined to God's life. Jesus said "and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.(John 6: 37).
This world is terribly evil, for us to survive we need to be under the protective power of the light of Christ. God protected the children of Israel in the wilderness by the ball of fire by night (Exodus 15: 21-22). That Pillar of fire represented God's presence, protection, and guidance in the same manner the light of Christ represents the presence of God as our protector and guide.
For us to dwell in Christ's light, we need to believe in Him as the true Son of God the Father. In the book of John 12:46 Jesus said "I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness"(John 12: 46).
We also need to do God's will as stipulated in His words "If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;"(John 8: 32). We should endeavor to live by the standards of God, by living a true life of holiness in and out.
Living the life of Christ must be our way of life as refusal to live in Christ's way is to remain in spiritual darkness.
We should follow Jesus wholeheartly, by this, He will lead us safely through darkness of life.
We should be addictive to the word of God. In Psalm 119:105 it says "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path".
Prayers:
O Lord my Father beam Your Light on my path in Jesus name.
Every obstacle of darkness on my way to greatness clear out by fire in Jesus name.
O Lord make me a shining light wherever I find myself to the glory of Your name in Jesus name.
The darkness pursuing me from my root receive wrath of God in Jesus name.
