THE BRANCH’S WAY-Isaiah 4:2 (A WEEKLY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE)
TOPIC: THE HOLY WAY
Text : Isaiah 35:8-10 And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein. [9] No lion shall be there, nor any ravenous beast shall go up thereon, it shall not be found there; but the redeemed shall walk there : [10] And the ransomed of the Lord shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.
There are several highways crisscrossing the entire world, each with its unique esthetics. The most beautiful highway in the world is the Chapman's Peak road in South Africa, while the most famous in the world is Route 66 in USA and the longest is the Pan American Highway. However, none of these man's highways could be compared to the God's Way of Holiness in beauty and safety. On the highways of man in the world we have all sorts of evil like death, robbery, rape, kidnapping, drug peddlers. But on God's Holy Way, the unclean, the rebellious, and the evil people are not permitted there. The road is exclusively for God's holy people, the redeemed of the Lord; on this Holy Road 'There will be no dangers on that road. There will be no lions there to hurt people or any dangerous animals on it' (ERV).
Man will generally seek a way that seems right, that would not require a change in ones life-style or moral restraints. But such a way will ultimately lead to death (Proverbs 14: 12). No matter how convincing or well intentioned an idea or action may look, if such is not in line with God's plans and standards it will likely lead to an unexpected tragedy. It is therefore, important to note that doing things in our own way will result in spiritual death. The human way leads to death; God's way leads to eternal life.
Living a good life does not guarantee one to be on this Holy Way, as no sin can be found in the presence of God. God is just too pure, too holy. We therefore, need to be holy as He who has called us is holy in all manner of conversation (1 Peter 1:15).
The present world is a mirage, an illusion, the authenticity of this world will be restored when Jesus comes to establish His kingdom on earth. Then the spiritually blind will be enlightened, the deaf to God's words will hear audibly, the dumb will have their lips opened while those who could not do any good thing would receive the grace of God.
The homeward journey of man starts from the very second a person is born no wonder the Bible says 'And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left' (Isaiah 30: 21). The salient question is how many people are hearing this directive by the Holy Spirit? Joshua in his book chapter 22: 5 says 'take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the Lord charged you, to love the Lord your God, and to walk in all His ways, and to keep His commandments, and to cleave unto Him, and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul'.
Jesus Christ declared in John 14: 6 'I Am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me. Jesus is the only Way to the Father as there is no other way. To therefore, reject Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior is to find oneself on the other side, the way that leads to damnation and hell fire. Believers are only made righteous by accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, without this they remain unrighteous and the Bible says 'the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate (transgender and transdressers), nor abusers of themselves with mankind (homosexual, sodomites, lesbians), [10] Nor thieves, nor covetous (the lustful), nor drunkards (users of intoxicants), nor revilers (abusers of others), nor extortioners (those who collect money from someone by threats), shall inherit the kingdom of God'(1 Corinthians 6: 9- 10).
For the believers to continue on the Holy Way; they must be devoted to God, must walk worthy, be dead to self ( John 12: 24, Romans 6: 6, 8: 13), they must bridle their tongues (James 3: 8), they must be able to suffer long for the sake of Christ (1 Corinthians 4: 10), you are to consider others first before yourself (Philippians 2: 4), holy living is a must (Luke 1: 75), you must avoid impure thoughts because you eventually become what you feed your heart with, therefore, endeavour to be what Paul recommends in Philippians 4: 8. Allow no sin to dwell in your mortal body. Spend quality time in Bible reading, prayer and worship. Devote your time and energy to things that will promote godliness in you. Fix your eyes on Jesus the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12: 2), and lastly put on the whole armour of God (Ephesians 6: 11- 13).
The benefits of getting to the end of the Holy Way:
God will dwell among them and be their God (Revelation 21: 3, 7).
God shall wipe away their tears (Isaiah 25: 8, Revelation 21: 4).
There shall be no more death, no more sorrow and no more pain.
Freedom from curses and ungodly Neighbours (Revelation 22: 3, 15).
There shall be an everlasting joy and gladness ( Isaiah 35: 10).
Prayers:
Father Lord take away anything that will disqualify me from the Holy Way in Jesus name.
I reject to be told by God "I know you not, you worker of iniquity" in Jesus name.
My earthly life will not debar me from gaining eternal life in Jesus name.
