FRESH WORD DEVOTIONAL
TOPIC: DON'T BE CARRIED AWAY
SCRIPTURAL FOCUS
Galatians 2:13 (KJV) And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation.
RHEMA WORD: God is the accient of days and not the modern of days.
One of the plagues in our generation is the plague of being easily carried away or distracted. There is a high level of disceptiom in the realm of the spirit with the target to distract people. We saw Barnabas was carried away with the teachings of his fellow brethren that centres around circumcision and the Gentiles. Don't be like Barnabas. But how?
1. Believe what you know and know what you believe. There are many so-called strange "revelation" been taught today, especially on social media, that you have to be careful not to be carried away. For instance, most social media pastors and evangelists are of the opinion that tithe is of the Old Testament and not for the New Testament believer. One of them said that Jesus is the tithe of God to the world. So impliedly, God has 10 sons, and He gave one to die for the world. May God help our generation.
Tithe is one tenth of your increase. It is a portion of your increase that belongs to God. Jesus endorsed tithing in Matt 23:23. However, he encouraged us to exceed the righteousness of the Scribes and Pharisees . Abraham never had a pastor, but he understood the law of tithing and gave his tithe. *Gen 14:20*. Jacob also had no pastor, and he vowed to tithe from all that God would give him *Gen 28:22*. Believe what you know and know what you believe. Don't be carried away by social media opinion.
2. Stay focused. Stay focused on the true word of God that you have been taught. God gave you pastors that will feed you with knowledge and understanding so that you will be well-built and rooted in God. *Jer 3:15-16*.
3. Avoid distraction. It is not everything that you should read or listen to. If it will make you start doubting the God that you once believed, please discard it immediately. God is the accient of days and not the modern of days. *Luk 9:62*
May the Lord give you the grace to maintain focus on Him and the race that is set before you. May August end well in your favour.
Prayers: Lord, help me not to be carried away by the wind of the enemy in Jesus Name.
